I've been bad about blogging. It's been busy at work. We did a week out a week ago to go to Brussels. Great food and some great Art Noveau architecture if you know where to look for it.
But, unfortunately, a lot of old Brussels was knocked down to make room for some truly horrible modern buildings in the '60s. They even have a word for it: Brusselization.
We took a side trip to Bruges, a lovely medieval city about an hour from Brussels by train. A great place to walk around. Old buildings, a magnificent clock tower and canals.
Now, we want to go back to Belgium so we can visit Antwerp and Ghent -- and eat more Belgian chocolate, mussels and fries!
