Moving to a new city brings with it a host of pleasant surprises: the sounds and vistas you did not expect to happen upon or to happen upon you.

One such moment was the day last summer when I heard the clip-clop of horse's hooves on my way to my daily commute. At the end of our street, I saw a troop of cavalry in plain uniform, including a radio officer. I asked one of the troopers what unit they were part of. His reply: Royal Horse Artillery. They were exercising their horses.

Cool.

Now and again, we hear the clip-clop in the morning and we know the cavalry is in our neighborhood. Yesterday morning, I heard it again around 7 a.m. as I was slowly awaking on a Saturday.

I really like the sound.
