We went to the Arsenal football (soccer) team's victory parade today. Arsenal has won the Premiership, the top championship in English football. Yesterday, they won a match against Leicester City, making them the first football team in 115 years to finish the season undefeated. Quite a feat!
The parade was a relatively low-key, happy affair. A crowd only one deep lined the street in Islington, the team's home base, and cheered as the team and its manager, Arsene Wegner, passed by on double-decker buses (along with the champion women's team).
Fans marched behind the buses. It was a great experience.
After the parade, we went back to my friend Jonathan Engel's house and enjoyed a barbecue lunch. The weather was spectacular.
